“Best Speech Ever”

By Mr. Ratan Tata

Don’t just have career or academic goals. Set goals to give you a balanced, successful life.
Balanced means ensuring your health, relationships, mental peace are all in good order.

There is no point in getting a promotion on the day of a breakup. There is no fun in driving a car if your back hurts.
Shopping is not enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions.

Don’t take life seriously. Life is not meant to be taken seriously, as we are really temporary here. We are like a prepaid card with limited validity.
If we are lucky, we may last another 50 years.
And 50 years is just 2,500 weekends.
Do we really need to get worked up ?

It’s ok.

Bunk few classes, score low in a couple of papers, take leave from work, fall in love, fight a little with your spouse.

It’s ok.

We are people, not devices.

Don’t be serious. Enjoy life as it comes.

  1. We should be reminded all the time that we are temporary here, so we don’t take life seriously and so live every minute of our lives the way we want.
We should always be reminded that our time is so limited on earth, so we don’t waste our time on being stressed, tensioned, and pressured on things that will not last anyway!
Only if I can be reminded of that everyday!

Thanks O’Shine for the great post 🙂

  3. Great post, great teaching and really strong reminder not to plunge oneself in absolutely unnecessary depths of chronic depression when one does not get what one wants immediately.
Some have achieved what you so seriously want but few weeks after, they’re gone. Some planned something else for their lives and they’re tops in stuffs other than what they planned. Sometimes we have to sit down and think about all these and then ask ourselves if all these stress and bad vibes are really worth it.
One thing that’s absolutely sure is, we’d all go and most of all these things we’ve amassed or accomplished become nothing of ours. Even the title changes, “late”, imagine that. Your name no longer becomes yours, instead of “XYZ” she becomes “the body”. We came Alone, we leave alone. When a person is gone, the job you so wanted to kill yourself for continues, somebody replaces you, they continue to expand in your absence; your friends grieve for a week tops and they’re back in their games. You become a far fetched memory. So why stress yourself, why not live without anxieties and scare, take the risk and if it happens laugh and rejoice, if it doesn’t be joyful and play. Live to please Him and be happy irrespective of the circumstances you find yourself in because in doing that is true living. See, wonder, believe, be curious, take risks (regardless of the consequences) and experience life. And as you said, “Don’t exist. Live”

Great post shine shine. I seem to have an endless stream of verbal flow these days. *sigh*
